My Visual Language: Seeing the World as Seoyun

As a person named 'Seoyun', I enjoy taking photographs, and I love color. Because of this, I like expressing myself through colorful paintings and images. I am also interested in fashion and makeup, which I see as visual forms of expression that reveal a person’s individuality and style. In addition, I love watching dramas and films because they reflect the atmosphere of their time and the lives of the people in it. They can convey a person and their era across time and space, which is why I see them as powerful forms of visual storytelling.
For me, visual language is a way to communicate my thoughts and emotions without relying on words. Instead of language that we speak through our mouths, I use visual elements such as images, color, form, text, and moving images to express meaning and feeling. Visual language is not simply about showing something; it is also the way I perceive, understand, and interpret the world around me.

I also believe visual language is an important way to express personal experiences while communicating with social media. Artists transform their emotions and experiences into visual forms, and through this process, they can share stories about society and people, creating empathy and connection.
As someone living on Earth in 2026, I am inspired by many forms of visual art. After coming to ISB, I met my art teacher and began to seriously explore art. Through paintings of Paris and lotus flowers, I began expressing myself visually. After hearing my photography teacher talk about his childhood, I created a piece titled The Beautiful Boy’s Dream. In ninth grade, I also participated in a fashion show project. I met new people in Higashikawa and gained new perspectives, and I was inspired by the drama Nevertheless. Currently, I am creating sculptures based on the theme of love.
Across these media, painting, photography, fashion, and sculpture, my work reflects my daily life, my experiences, and the world I live in. What makes my visual language “Seoyun” is my interest in color, emotion, personal stories, and the connection between people. Through visual art, I try to express how I see and feel the world and share those experiences with others.
For me, visual art is not just a form of communication. It is a visual language that connects people beyond words, and ultimately, it is the reason I create, the reason I live, and the reason I exist.
